Kit Price is a beautiful campground located alongside the North Fork of the Coeur d’Alene River approximately 32 miles north of I-90 at Kingston, Idaho. The campground has three loops and offers a total of 58 camp sites which includes single sites, 7 double sites and 10 pull through sites. There is a river access trail in each loop and from some camp sites.
In 2018 and 2019, Kit Price was logged in order to remove the old growth which became too diseased to allow for safe camping. The tops had broken out of many of the trees and they had very shallow root systems. In 2021, the campground was renovated to include new restrooms, tables and fire rings. Covers were also installed in some of the sites to provide shade and cover. Two new water tanks were also installed. Many of the stumps that were left from logging were removed and new paving of the road and spurs have been completed. During this renovation an additional five new sites were added.
Popular activities that campers enjoy are fishing for the popular cutthroat trout (catch & release only), floating the river, picking huckleberries and hiking into Fern, Shadow and Centennial Falls. You can also take an evening drive and look for wildlife in the area and view the beauty of the Coeur d’Alene River.
Kit Price is open from mid-May to the end of September each year and offers both first-come first-serve sites and reservations sites. You can make reservations up to six months in advance at Recreation.gov.
To get to Kit Price Campground, on I-90 take Exit 43 at Kingston, Idaho, and travel north on paved Forest Service Rd. #9 for 24 miles and then another 9 miles on paved Forest Service Rd. 208.
We look forward to seeing you at Kit Price Campground!
