Angel Lake Campground

Angel Lake Campground is located next to its beautiful namesake lake at an elevation of 8,400 feet, just 12 miles from Wells, Nevada. Towering 9,000-10,000' glacial cirques surround the lake. Dwarf aspens cover the campground, providing privacy between campsites, although little to no shade. Some sites have lake views. A campground host is onsite. Firewood is available for purchase.
An 11-site day use area is adjacent to the campground on the lakeshore. Roads and parking spurs are paved.

Reservations: Available at recreation.gov. Reservations can be made 6 months prior to the first day of your camping stay.
Directions: Take I-80 to West Wells exit. Turn south on Angel Lake Rd (SR 231) and travel 12 miles to the end of the road. See map below.
Open Dates: Third Friday in June to fourth Monday in September. May open earlier if snow levels permit.
Amenities: This campground provides vault toilets and potable water. No garbage service is available - if you pack it in, please pack it out. Each site contains a picnic table, fire ring, and grill.
Nearby: Angel Lake offers great canoeing and fishing for rainbow and brook trout. Greys Lake Trail, a 4.75-mile roundtrip path to a hidden alpine lake, begins at the campground entrance. Bighorn sheep, mountain goats, birds of prey, and deer frequent the area, making wildlife-watching a popular activity.
